Greg Binion joined the Mainstay Maritime Board of Directors in July 2024 following Mainstay’s acquisition of Andrie and was appointed interim Chief Executive Officer in September of 2024. Greg has over 40 years of maritime experience creating value through safe, reliable, cost- effective logistics for industries which provide modern day building blocks for today’s economy.

Prior to joining Mainstay, Greg served as Executive Chairman of two Jones Act marine transportation companies: Andrie serving bulk liquid and dry cargo markets on the Great Lakes, and M/G Transport serving inland dry bulk Gulf Coast markets until their sale. From 2014-2018, Greg served as Jefferson Energy Terminal CEO. Jefferson is a multi-modal bulk liquid terminal located in Beaumont, Texas. Prior to that, Greg had a 25-year career with Kirby Corporation in various roles with increasing responsibility, concluding in 2014 as the President of the Marine Transportation Group which included the United States largest liquid inland and coastwise barge fleets.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and attended the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in the fall of 2006. Greg serves on the Board of several other profit and charitable organizations including Genesis Rail Services, HBS Club of Houston, and Board of Visitors at A & M Galveston.

Joe Kassel, CPA, joined Mainstay Maritime as Chief Financial Officer in September 2024 and leads the company’s finance, information technology, and procurement functions. Since joining, he has led a $525 million refinancing, the divestiture of the company’s Canadian division to refocus the business on its core U.S. operations, and a digital modernization program spanning new operational and financial ERP platforms, FP&A software, and travel and expense management. He has also established the company’s commercial pricing framework and built out the financial and operational analytics and performance metrics that guide strategic, commercial, and operational decision-making — work enabled by the operational ERP implemented in 2026.

Prior to joining Mainstay, Joe served as Chief Financial Officer of Calspan, a leading aerospace and automotive testing and research company. During his tenure, Calspan doubled both revenue and EBITDA through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. These efforts culminated in the company’s $725 million sale to TransDigm Group, a publicly traded aerospace and defense company, where Joe remained for eighteen months following the transaction.

Joe began his career with U.S. Energy Development Corporation, where he spent a decade in a variety of finance roles. During that time, he helped deploy more than $1.2 billion of investor capital into oil and gas drilling programs and acquisition opportunities across the United States.

He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York State and holds an MBA in Professional Accounting from Canisius College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University at Buffalo.

Sven Christensen joined Mainstay Maritime as Chief Operating Officer in July of 2024. As COO of Mainstay, Sven is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the entire fleet, including American Steamship Company, Grand River Navigation, Andrie, and managed vessels.

His scope covers vessel operations and deployment; health, safety, security, and environmental performance; the ISM-certified Safety Management System; engineering and technical services, including fleet reliability, winter work and drydock planning, and the annual capital program; and crewing and labor relations. He works closely with the commercial, logistics, finance, and legal teams on service execution and contract performance, and leads Mainstay's integration efforts and its One Fleet, One Future operating philosophy.

Prior to joining Mainstay, Sven served as Chief Executive Officer of Andrie, a Great Lakes marine transportation company specializing in the safe transportation of petroleum, chemical, and dry cargoes. During his time at Andrie, he oversaw safety, operations, logistics, sales, and marketing, customer relationships, and key business growth planning and execution.

Preceding his work at Andrie, Sven worked as the Vice President of Pacific Northwest and Offshore Operations for Harley Marine Services, a Seattle based petroleum transportation provider, overseeing safe and efficient operations in Alaska, British Columbia, and the U.S. West Coast.

Sven is a lifelong mariner and licensed Captain. He began his professional career over 35 years ago, spending almost 15 years at sea before moving to shoreside management operations. Sven maintains his USCG license and holds a bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.

Alex Przytulski is Chief People Officer of Mainstay Maritime, where he leads the company’s human resources strategy, talent management, organizational development, and workforce initiatives across the enterprise. He brings nearly three decades of maritime, transportation, and leadership experience spanning vessel operations, logistics, organizational transformation, and business integration.

Beginning his maritime career in 1999 and active in the Great Lakes maritime industry since 2001, Alex spent more than five years sailing aboard Jones Act vessels operating on the Great Lakes, Gulf Coast, coastal, and blue-water trades before transitioning to shore-side leadership within American Steamship Company, in 2007. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles across operations, logistics, customer service, quality management, human resources, and organizational development, including serving as General Manager of a logistics organization supporting mine-to-mill transportation solutions for North American integrated steel producers.

Since joining Mainstay in 2017, Alex has played a key leadership role in the company’s transformation, helping guide the organization through restructuring efforts, ownership transitions, and its evolution into Mainstay Maritime. During that time, he has held multiple positions including Vice President of Logistics & Customer Service, Vice President of Synergy & Quality, and Chief People Officer. His work has focused on operational excellence, workforce development, enterprise integration, and strengthening alignment across Mainstay’s operating companies.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Economics from SUNY Empire State University.

Peter Bordonaro joined Mainstay Maritime as General Counsel in December 2024, where he oversees all legal, governance and risk management matters across the company. In addition, Peter advises the company’s executive leadership team and Board of Directors on strategic initiatives, playing a key role in supporting the company’s objectives while ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards.

Prior to joining Mainstay, Peter served as General Counsel at Calspan Holdings, a provider of testing and technology development services in the aerospace, defense and automotive industries.

Peter started his career as an Associate at Ropes & Gray LLP in Boston, and he has also held in-house legal roles at Univera Healthcare and at New Era Cap Company, where he advised on a broad range of corporate and operational matters.

Peter graduated summa cum laude from The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Economics and earned his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Tulane University Law School.

Peter is admitted to practice law in both New York and Massachusetts.

Ian Mitchell joined Mainstay Maritime as Vice President of Information Technology in September, 2025. Ian leads the company's enterprise technology strategy, cybersecurity program, infrastructure, business systems, and digital transformation initiatives. As a member of the executive leadership team, he is responsible for aligning technology investments with business objectives, enabling data-driven decision-making, strengthening cybersecurity resilience, and supporting operational excellence across corporate offices, business units, and vessel operations.

With more than 25 years of technology leadership experience, Ian has successfully led global technology, operations, and customer support organizations across the software, SaaS, manufacturing, e-commerce, finance, and maritime industries.

Prior to joining Mainstay, he served as Senior Vice President of Operations at Synacor, where he oversaw global technical operations, customer operations, corporate IT, cybersecurity, compliance, and governance functions. During his tenure, he led large-scale cloud modernization and operational transformation initiatives, strengthened cybersecurity programs, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and directed global teams supporting millions of users worldwide.

Ian is recognized for leveraging technology as a strategic business enabler, helping organizations improve efficiency, manage risk, modernize enterprise platforms, and create sustainable competitive advantage. His expertise includes cybersecurity and risk management, ERP modernization, cloud transformation, enterprise infrastructure, technology governance, and business systems integration. He holds a BA with Honors in Business and Information Technology from Liverpool John Moores University.
